RV kitchen accessories and RV camping tips and tricks 2022? A mix between freedom and adventure, RV life is awesome. But there are many aspects that can be optimized, to make your RV life even cheaper. Travel trailer wheel chocks keep your trailer from rolling once you disconnect from your tow vehicle. Not all campsites are level, especially when boondocking. Even when a site looks level, there’s a chance your RV will roll if it’s not chocked. Do not skimp on this one. There are a few types of levelers. The most common are leveling blocks that work like Lego’s, and leveling wedges, like these. Blocks are handy for leveling, but they can double as a jack stand or for under your stabilizer feet, so the stabilizers don’t sink when on dirt. Read additional information at caravansbliss.com.

If you’re anything like us, there will probably be some days when you’re ready to throw up your hands and declare that all this work preparing for life on the road just isn’t worth it. To combat this, it helps to create a vision board. A vision board can help you reach your goals, and help you stay motivated when things get tough. To make one, simply cut out pictures from magazines, or print off pictures from the Internet, that illustrate what you want life on the road to look like, and make a collage on a large piece of poster board. For example, you could put up a picture of the camper you’ve chosen. You could cut out pictures of a national park you’ve always dreamed of visiting or put up pictures of family that you want to visit. Whatever makes you happy and excited about living life on the road should go up on the board. Again, the vision board will help remind you why you’re doing this, which will help on those days when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

There are two different types of levels: Bubble Levels that have an air bubble that floats to the high side, and Ball Levels that have a ball that drops to the low side. Bubble levels are more responsive (the bubble moves more quickly as the RV moves). Ball levels take a few seconds to react. If you use both types, you can get confused because they move in opposite directions.

Make sure your RV has cooled down. Hot spots including engine exhaust, and fridge or water heater exhausts can severely damage an RV cover. Look for sharp and “pokey” areas on your RV. Things like your side view mirrors, rain gutters, riveted edges, awnings, and more can cut, puncture, or put excessive pressure on your RV cover. Make sure these areas are padded before installing the cover. An excellent way to do so is with pool noodles and lengths of foam pipe insulation. You’ll find an incredibly detailed tutorial on RV covers and pool noodles at this link.

Looking back on the miles we drove in the first year, neither of us can imagine doing it by ourselves. Unless you don’t have plans to move very often or for long distances at a time, it’s good to share the drive. Whenever I pull up to a campground, the neighbors always stop by and say to Joe “I wish my wife drove.” If you’re not comfortable driving an RV, there are driving classes available. The more you drive, the more confidence you will have. Before you know it, you’ll be thinking to yourself “this is a piece of cake”. You might even start looking forward to taking your turn behind the wheel.
